Lunch & Coffee

Ristr8to

If you are a coffee addict, your trip to Chiang Mai is not complete without having a coffee break at Ristr8to. It’s a popular hipster spot serving the most beautiful latte art creations you’ve ever seen! Arnon the owner and barista is originally from Thailand and started working in a coffee shop in Sydney while he studied English. He got inspired by his colleague who was a world champion in latte art making and started to join barista competitions himself in Thailand and Australia. Over the years he won many prices. When he moved back from Australia to Thailand he opened his own place Ristr8to. Arnon regularly flies to Singapore to select the coffee beans and offers up to eight blends from every corner of the globe. He is obsessed with the number eight. ”There are 44 chromosomes in Arabica coffee and if you double that in a doppio ristretto it is 88”. His obsession resulted in opening hours from 7:08 am until 10:08 PM and the price of every drink contains an 8.

Woo cafe and art gallery

This spacious hip cafe and art gallery is a true secret hipster gem. I love the interior design with wooden floors, lots of floral decorations and antique furniture. Join fellow digital nomads on the large common table, sit at a private table with friends or relax on the canopy in the garden. On the menu are a mix of Thai and Western dishes and a large selection of homemade cakes. For a colorful food experience try out the unique rice salad. The concept is to mix your own salad with colorful ingredients that are separately presented in small cups. The traditional Northern Thai Khao Soi soup became our new favorite dish here. There is an art gallery above the cafe which is free to visit for all customers.

Dinner & Drinks

Sala Lanna

Sala Lanna is rated as one of the best Italian restaurants in 2015 and our favorite in Chiang Mai! We walked through the grand entrance to the elegant dining room set up with large tables and blue comfortable sofas. The menu features excellent homemade pasta, authentic Italian dishes and traditional Thai cuisine with a pairing selection of world wines. Our favorite dish was the marinated octopus carpaccio served with lemon potato, vegetables and taro chips. The thinly sliced octopus melted on the tongue. Outside there is a riverfront dining deck with an all-day bar. Perfect for a romantic river-side dinner or afternoon tea.

Mixology

This is the best spot for cocktails in Chiang Mai! The stylish cozy bar is run by a mixologist, an art designer, and a food & interior specialist. The interior is a mix of vintage and new, full of greeneries and funny positive quotes everywhere, even on the menu with own created signature cocktails. For example the lovely Rebellion Lavender ”Gentleman by day, philosopher by night, pervert by choice and rebel by FATE”, it is a mix of gin, lavender, lime and your own feeling. After drinking one, you’ll definitely long for a second, or a third, so be sure to come during Happy Hour every Tue-Friday before 9PM. On the menu are also Thai food with a twist and burgers!

David’s Kitchen

David’s Kitchen Awarded as the ”Thailand Tatler Best Restaurant” in 2015, we had high expectations. The family run restaurant owned by David, his wife Prom and partner Chef O is set in a well designed spacious building with large romantic candle lit terrace. Start your evening at the wine bar in the ”glass room” with communal table. The menu features French, Italian and Thai food paired with a selection of fine wines from around the world. We especially liked the pan-seared tuna on a bed of lemongrass. David’s Kitchen didn’t live up to our probably to high expectations but is definitely a great night out!
