After 10 months traveling in tropical Asia, we are used to be surrounded by jungle trees and wild animals. The first morning I wake up in Berlin, I don’t hear them, but I do see them again. Through the floor to ceiling window I look out over a forest and see apes swing on a rope. No, I am not in India anymore but it does remind me of it. I look out on the ape house in the Berliner Zoo from my jungle room in my new favorite hotel:25hours Bikini Berlin!
25hours Berlin is located in City west in the Bikini-Haus building. Its peculiar location between the memorial church and Berlin Zoo resulted in the hotel’s design concept ”Urban Jungle’’. The interior design contains a mix of urban and raw materials, nature inspired and vibrant colors and many plants. Even after spending months in the tropics I still can’t get enough of it and feel immediately comfortable in the jungle vibe. Every room and public area has hand drew illustrations on the walls. The jungle side rooms facing the zoo are decorated with natural materials like wood and have hammocks to relax and watch the monkeys jump around in the zoo. The urban side room is made out of materials like copper and steel and cooler colours. All of the rooms include free bike rental and even free use of the mini car!
NENI Berlin
After we wake up in our super comfortable bed we enjoy a breakfast at the NENI restaurant on the 10th floor, with a panoramic view on the Zoo. The buffet has everything you need, quality cheese & charcuterie, fresh salmon, all kind of yogurt, nuts and muesli, home made bread and sweet cakes. NENI also offers a delicious lunch and dinner menu. The kitchen is based on a culinary mix of Persian, Russian, Arabic, Moroccan, Israeli, Turkish, Spanish, German and Australian influences. The concept of the chef Haya Molcho is to try a little of everything and order dishes to share.
The 25hours hotel is not only popular among its own guests. One of Berlin’s coolest places to drink a cocktail and watch the sun set; Monkey bar is on the top floor with a 360° rooftop terrace!
Bikini Island
On the third floor next to the lobby there is a perfect workspace for digital nomads like us, called ”The Wohnzimmer lounge”. The design creates a unique atmosphere. People work, relax and chat side by side. Need a little time-out? You can lay down in a hammock and enjoy the city views. On the other side of the lobby, is a bakery to satisfy your sweet tooth!
