A new adventure, a new destination, the moment I booked my ticket to Mexico I immediately felt the addicting travel rush of travelling to the other side of the world. Knowing that the next couple of weeks I’ll be exploring a new country with cactus-stretched deserts, tropical Caribbean reefs, wild jungles, cosmopolitan cities, snow-capped volcanoes, colorful colonial pueblas, majestic Maya temples, a chili-spiced cuisine and sparkling fiestas.
Wintertime
In Holland the days are getting colder and shorter. An extra shot of vitamin sea is the perfect solution to beat the upcoming winter blues. I am exploring new ways to make the best version out of Meet You at the Bridge. Therefor I am travelling in Mexico together with my talented friend Lotte. After a ten-hour flight and an upcoming jetlag, we are happy to check in at boutique Hotel La Semilla. Playa del Carmen is just an hour away from Cancún airport and an easy first stop-over. The design hotel has a laid-back sophisticated atmosphere. The organic design is stylish white but reflects the Mexican heritage well. The furniture and decoration are handpicked from flea markets all around Mexico, which make the hotel super photogenic. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and a delicious, healthy breakfast is served every morning in the tropical garden. With the world’s most beautiful palm-fringed beaches just a short stroll or bike ride away this hotel is the perfect start of our trip.
La Cueva Del Chango
You can find this cozy and authentic restaurant right next to Hotel La Semilla. The restaurant serves delicious traditional Mexican dishes made with local ingredients. The restaurant’s specialty are the chili’s stuffed with quinoa, panela cheese, pumpkin seeds, served with coriander sauce over a sweet yum yam puree. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed which is uncommon for Playa and a welcome change.
