We’re back at our beloved Sri Lankan Riviera. This time in Ahangama. I’m slowly waking up and enjoy a breakfast of homemade pancakes and fresh fruit. Just opposite of the beach is paradise boutique retreat Camp Poe. Tucked away in a quite, spacious green garden, filled with tropical flowers, beautiful jungle plants and swaying palm trees. We are here to enjoy an unforgettable week full of yoga, creativity, surf, new friends, soul food and music.

Home is whenever I’m with you
From the moment we set foot in the camp I feel like I’m at home. The camp is a boutique in every sense of the word. The common spacious area is boho chique decorated and has two huge lounge sofa’s, a pool table, a large dining table to enjoy the fresh, healthy prepared dinners together, a beamer for movies, a modern kitchen with all day tea & coffee and a small library. In the garden is a refreshing swimming pool surrounded by beach beds. The friendly owners, world travellers and passionate surfers Ben & Till welcome us. They show us our luxurious jungle tent, the spacious bungalows and the place where the soon to be tree houses are build! (Yes, you are reading this correct; in the near future you can sleep in a romantic tree house at Camp Poe!). We are introduced to Coco our hot ;) and super experienced surf coach. Coco teaches surf in a great way, he pushes you to challenge yourself and improve your technique. There are yoga lessons given in the camp and on Saturday Ben gives a yoga session during sunset on Ahangama beach. Want some body decoration? Maria the talented in-house artist is here to give you a beautiful piece of art. Interested to pick up on your rhythms? Moshe the camp musician leads drum circles and offers private lessons. When we lay our sour bodies down at the end of the day on the enormous couch, Till is there with a huge dvd collection to enjoy and chill out those lazy evenings. When the night falls I feel tired but fulfilled and fall a sleep under the shooting stars with jungle sounds in the background.

Surf the Sustainable
Wetter it is the new ever lasting friendships that are made, the camp collaborating with the local Sri Lankan family next door and tuk-tuk drivers, the sharing of experiences, the selling of vintage clothes, the learning from each other, the camp growing their own veggies, a closet full of sunscreen to use and the building dreams together. In every aspect of Camp Poe the importance of sustainability shines through. These people are passionate about their lifestyles and camp. Visiting Camp Poe for a week makes you feel, see and taste what its like and I’ll promise you, you’ll get stoked!
