Manglex
If you want to get away from the hustle of the main street at Tulum beach, this place is perfect. It’s a two-minute walk from the entrance of Sian Ka’an, which was one of our favorite spots in Tulum. The best part about Manglex is that they integrate the ecosystem in the hotel, because it’s built above mangroves. Staying at Manglex means being in touch with nature. Each room is named after on of the elements air, wind, fire and earth. The cabanas reach above the trees, so from your balcony you have a view over the mangrove. The hotel values sustainability, they work with solar panels and are free of electricity-use during the day. Get in touch with your spiritual side, and set your intentions at the altar in the common area of the hotel. If you want to cool down after a hot afternoon, jump in the natural mangrove pool or take one of the kayaks for a sunset tour. Manglex is a place we definitely preferred for its conscious mindset and un pretentious vibe.
Live Tulum
This condo hotel in the middle of Tulum pueblo gives you an authentic Tulum experience. The hotel offers apartment size rooms including kitchen. Walk to the local market to buy fresh fruit and vegetables from the region to make your own healthy meals. Get around by bicycle, which are free of use at the hotel. The way to the beach is only a 15-minute ride, but the hotel offers a large pool to take a refreshing dive as well.
Howlita
Howlita is a great hotel where you can get away of the touristy center of Tulum. The hotel is situated at the end of pueblo in a quiet and local neighborhood. That’s exacty what we loved about this place, experiencing the local vibe of Tulum. The hotel tries to support the local Mayan community as much as they can. It’s the perfect place to unwind after a day of activities. Relax on the big sofas next to the pool with some relaxing music in the background. Enjoy your breakfast at the pool bar for a refreshing morning. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very comfy. The price-value of this place is excellent!
