As one of the most touristic cities in Asia, Bangkok offers a wide variety of accommodation options. For those who like an escape to unfamiliar surroundings a boutique hotel might be just what you need. The Thai capital offers many luxury hotel experiences with unique decors, themed rooms and unusual design concepts followed by the latest trends. During our three weeks in Bangkok, these were our absolute favorites!
Chakrabongse Villas – Bangkok Old Town

Today the ground has been transformed into a boutique hotel set in a beautiful botanical garden. The Thai-style teak apartment seat at the riverfront with mesmerizing views on Wat Arun. The interior is a mix of antique and design furniture. The large bedroom has a walk-in closet with minibar and a beautiful bathroom with large Jacuzzi and luxurious bathroom amenities. On the private veranda there is a wooden canopy bed with soft cushions to dream away after your city walk viewing the Chao Phraya River.Take the spiral staircase down to walk around in the botanical garden or take a dip in the large beautiful swimming pool. Hotel Indigo – Bangkok Wireless Road Sukhumvit
Hotel Indigo Bangkok opened in 2015 on Wireless Road – where the Thai radio was born. Every detail in the design, food, amenities and service of the boutique hotel draws inspiration from the neighborhood and musical instruments. For example the building itself is designed in the shape of a melody. The hotel is designed with a mix of vintage, retro and classical furniture. The minute you walk in the colorful lobby you feel an energetic happy vibe. The friendly staff, referred to as ‘‘neighborhood host’’ treat you like a friend and help you explore the neighborhood. The hotel features 198 rooms and we stayed in the Chaiyapruek Executive Room, which comes with a small balcony to take in the sights of the dazzling city. The comfortable room has multiple seating areas; a sofa, a work desk, a large bed and a balcony. The thing I loved the most is the extremely spacious bathroom with double sink, a separate shower and a beautiful big bathtub with city view. Every morning there is a delicious breakfast buffet served at Metro on the second floor. You can grab your own yogurt and fruit shakes from the fridge, to give you the feeling of being at home.
Dive into the infinity pool for a refreshing swim with amazing view or sit back and relax at the lounge while you enjoy the breeze and view from the top.
When the evening starts take a seat at 22 steps for a cocktail where jazz music is played in the evening. Recently Indigo opened a modern chic restaurant at the top floor with mesmerizing city views while dining. For sunset go fro a drink to the super classy rooftop bar. This rooftop will soon definitely become Bangkok’s newest hotspot!

Sala Rattanakosin – Bangkok Old Town
Sleeping at boutique hotel Sala Rattanakosin is a great experience when visiting Bangkok. The small luxury hotel is named after Rattanakosin Island, the heart of the old city and situated at the eastern bank of the Chao Phraya River. The owner of the hotel made the most of this privileged location by constructing the entire riverside of the property out of glass. It has one of the best views in town. Most of the rooms have river views with an open lounge area with sofa and king-size beds overlooking Wat Arun (The Temple of Dawn). Waking up with this view is truly amazing!
For a magical sunset the rooftop bar is a must visit! On one side you look out over Wat Arun and the Chao Phraya River and on the other side the golden spires and glittering shrines of The Grand Palace and Wat Po. There is also a restaurant on the ground floor overlooking the river and serving a selection of traditional Thai favorites. Make sure you make a reservation; the hotel has only 15 rooms available. It is located in a small alley, but just remember it is situated along the river on the opposite of Wat Arun. Lovely place with friendly and helpful staff, definitely worth a visit when in Bangkok!

Shanghai Mansion – China Town
Shanghai Mansion is much more than just an ordinary city hotel. It is one of the oldest high-rise buildings in China town and one of the most important architectural landmarks. It used to be a central gathering point for the Chinese community during cultural events, holidays and opera’s. The interior is a mix of old and modern China and decorated in the old 1930 Shanghai style with beautiful art deco details in contrasting colors of red, orange, brown and purple. All together a very amusing ambiance. Gaze down the internal balconies through the colorful hanging lantern-decked atrium onto the fish filled water garden. The rooms are all named after traditional Chinese flowers and decorated in the antique chic Chinoise-style. The vibrant silk cushions, oriental poster beds and lanterns lights are why sleeping in Shanghai Mansion is different from ordinary hotels.
